Lead Support
Lead Support Volunteer
About this Role
As our Lead Support Volunteer you will help us provide vital support to people with MS, their family, friends and carers. This could take the form of a listening ear, sharing our publications, signposting to sources of local support, building links with local professionals and encouraging people to take advantage of our financial grants programme for things like home adaptations.
Skills and Qualities
You will be a good listener, who is empathetic and able to maintain confidentiality. Ideally, you will be comfortable using email and the internet.
Practicalities
Our roles are flexible and aim to fit around you. Time commitments for this role may vary but we estimate that this role will take around two hours a week in addition to attending a monthly Coordinating Group meeting, normally held one evening a month. As part of your role, you will be supported to complete some mandatory learning. You’ll be supported with a group handbook and by the Group Coordinator and the rest of the volunteer team. You’ll also have a welcome and induction checklist which lists what resources are available to support you in your role and regular opportunities to talk with other Support Volunteers across the North of England. You must be over 18 years of age to volunteer in this role.
